THE COMPUTER GRAND PIANO CEUS

The Computer Grand Piano CEUS

In 1985 the famous Viennese Piano manufacturer Bösendorfer has introduced the first model of a computer controlled grand piano. Since then Bösendorfer has spent years of research to design the CEUS, the state-of-the-art system of computer pianos. One of the cornerstones in the development of the new computer controlled grand piano was a scientific study conducted at the Vienna University of Technology.

The CEUS can record the interpretation of a human player in all its finest details and give a completely authentic reproduction. Optical sensors measure even the minutest key movements with a sampling rate which surpasses other systems used in professional audio production by over hundred times.

Apart from that the CEUS is fully compatible with modern data interfaces. This makes it possible to play an interpretation of a composition coded in standard midi format on a real grand piano without any human player involved.
