The KOFAKTOR society will present a selection of your submissions in public performance at the KOFAKTOR - chamber music festival (Fr. December 12th 2008 at the Bösendorfer piano factory, located close to the Center of Vienna).

First Price of the Competition is a state of the art vst-plugin with piano sounds - that must not be mixed up with the high tech instrument at the performance.

The selected works will be played on a traditional world class grand piano which is triggered by complex robotics.

The Bösendorfer Computer Grand Piano Ceus

is a sophisticated musical instrument. The Ceus Piano embodies a combination of traditional know-how and modern computer technology. Besides the possibility of listening simply to the midi-files of your compositions on a world class grand piano (perfect interpretation granted) the Ceus can even more:

it allows you to record any imaginable piano-mechanical movement produced by a piano player. Not only as a tool for perfect reproduction of piano-music but also as a lab for artistic experiments this instrument indeed seems to be one of the most exciting developments in music-technology.

What kind of music are we looking for?

The pieces may have been previously released (performed or published in any other way).

The compositions should not exceed a length of 7 minutes.

A winner will be selected solely by one core criterion, which is embodied by the aesthetic necessity for the piece to be performed on a Computer Grand Piano.

As far as possible, general style aspects, aesthetic-ideological aspects or matters of taste will be excluded as criteria for selecting a winner.
In other words:
It does not mean that we do not like the music, if a piece will not be selected!
But the exclusivity for computer grand performance should be obvious.

In the concert, the pieces will be played via Standard-MIDI-Files!

(Members of KOFAKTOR are excluded from the competition. Compositions by KOFAKTOR members will be performed in a 2nd part of the concert.)
